We Make DC

The team behind Shop Made in DC built out and opened the We Make DC space in Dupont on a one month timeline. I spent a week and a half with them to execute on several design ideas - many of which we brainstormed on site. We conceptualized, I drew up a mockup, and I’d get to painting. It has hands-down been my favorite project to date, and it is very rewarding to pop in after the opening to see customers actively engaged with the interactive components that I helped create.

Washington, DC - April 2026

I painted the white DC flag mural on the ceiling for the space.

I designed and painted this DC map highlighting the 8 wards of DC. Guests get to add a small sticker dot to their location.

I designed and painted this signage to highlight the Make It Bar area.

I painted the header and hand lettered all 202 DC neighborhoods on this wall.

I designed and painted the 'Experience More' arrow; painted the 'Who Makes DC' title; and finalized the graphics, ordered the vinyl, and oversaw the installation of the graphics and the TV.

I designed, laser cut, and installed the pink acyrlic ward signs for each room.

I hand lettered the title and prompt on this chalk wall -

- which was a huge hit! This is after just one month of being open. The prompt can be changed every quarter to refresh the space.

I designed and painted all 6 exterior windows to combat glare and catch the attention of customers.

We wanted color that pops and verbiage that attracts and informs the customer of what the shop space does.

I laser cut and built tabletop letters that spell out WE MAKE DC to be scattered throughout the retail tables, readable from the moment you step into the space.

She DC and 10×10 Gallery Openings

Shop Made Brands opens a gallery space every November titled the 10×10 Show; and a gallery space every March for Women’s History Month titled She:DC. I painted their logo for both 2025 and 2026 She:DC openings, installed the gallery for the 2025 10×10 show, and joined the team for 4 days in March to hang over 350 pieces for the She:DC 2026 opening. I am highly skilled in achieving cohesive layouts for gallery spaces and installing the artwork, and I was the master of leveling for these projects.

Maker Summit

Shop Made Brands hosted a Maker Summit in August 2025 and I was brought on as a fabrication and install partner for the event. Assets were designed and built in advance, and all pieces were assembled on site the day prior to the event.
